Update – Texas Kenpo Conference April 30- May 1, 2016!
Steve White and I have once again booked Rancho Cortez in Bandera, TX for the event.
Sigung Steve LaBounty, Bob White, John Sepulveda and myself will teach and our “lieutenants” are being selected.
The “Lieutenants”. As of this writing, Rob Sanchez, from Bob White’s school, will teach a class on surviving an active shooter. Barbara White will conduct women’s self-defense for women not taking the seminars. Graham Lelliott and co-host Steve White will teach. Sean and Rebecca Knight from Tucson will teach as a team.
Based on the response to this so far, you probably should sign-up early.

South American “Fist Law”
This was sent along by Tim Walker in Florida. It’s a 20 minute documentary on Andean villages that have a fist-fighting festival, Takanakuy, every year at Christmas. It’s interesting for the cultural aspects as well as watching how people with little to no training fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKjSyZhIIiw

Responsible Action in the UK and Elsewhere
In response to my offer to donate my out-of-print books for fundraisers, Mike Ilderton in Northern England took the challenge, auctioned them off and donated $250 to the Salvation Army for their safe house in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Mike O’Handley’s studio in East Taunton, MA also raised some funds via a kick-a-thon for community action.
Several other instructors around the US had similar successful events. Thanks to you all.

In case you missed this. Mr. White mentions the AKSC, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7MEjpc9ZO0&sns=em
Private and Group Training Via The Web
I have been teaching via video to individuals and groups. One school has me do an online group class for them quarterly. This is not limited to school owners. You can do it with your desktop, laptop or device. You can schedule a block of either 5 or 10 lessons running about 30-45 minutes each. I can arrange single lessons too, but the block saves money. Here’s what you do.
Pick a block of lessons. Schedule a time slot and pay by credit card or PayPal.
Select the subject(s) you want/need to cover.
Off you go! I’ll send you notes on the lesson by e-mail afterward.
If you’re interested, please contact me at lee@leewedlake.com. By the way, the protocol would be to make sure it’s ok with your teacher, if you have one.
School Visits in December
I moved back down to Florida last month and stopped at some of our schools along the way. I visited Covington Karate Studio in Covington, Louisiana where Danny Sullivan is the owner and chief instructor.
We had a full house on a Wednesday night.
The next day I was a Guardian Self Defense in Foley, Alabama. Pete Galvano owns the studio and teaches full-time. We had some spare time and went over to visit the Naval Aviation museum at NAS Pensacola, too.
The last studio I visited was Tim Walker’s American Kenpo Karate University in Branford, FL, located near Lake City. This was the first time teaching there and it was a pleasure to work with the group, which was a full house, too.
WRBBOF
The World Registry of Black Belts, Organizations and Federations (WRBBOF). Since the sudden passing of the founder, Barry Moyer, the organization has gotten a new director, Hanshi Dwight Holley, and Hanshi Moyer’s daughter is now ready to accept applications. I am a member of the Board of Directors. The organization is non-political and not a certificate factory. Take a look. http://www.wrbbof.com/

Update – KenpoTV
Seminars from 1984 by Mr. Parker will be uploaded soon, if they have not been yet.
I asked several users to send anything that may be missing on the site; videos that got lost in the changeover or need to be shot. I have a list of material I intend to video in the next two months.
With over 1,000 videos on the site, people use it to learn and stay fresh on the material. Many instructors use the site to help them in planning lessons. Some hook it up to a monitor in the class room to illustrate principles in motion. Still others do it live by arranging a session with me via video chat. kenpotv.com. A week-long trial is $1. The site is licensed by the Parker family.
