What’s here? Breast Cancer awareness month, Frank Trejo, The Kenpo Karate Compendium, Wonder Valley Kenpo Camp, KenpoTV updates, seminar listings

The Kenpo Karate Compendium I have received the most recent edit from the publisher and am looking at many more hours of work. It seems to be on track for January, though. There will be some more new photos added. I’m positive you will find this book to be very useful.

Professional Development Seminar (PDS) in Tucson The Nov. 2 seminar will be at Shawn and Rebecca Knight’s studio in Tucson. Subject is the weapon techniques. Fee includes a manual and certificate. Here’s the link to register. https://kenpotv.com/leewedlake/store/tucson-az-pds/ You’ll have to pre-register, space limited, we can’t take walk-ins.

Frank Trejo Mr. Trejo taught me a lot during my stays in California, training at the headquarters school in Pasadena and taking privates with Mr. Parker. He’s diabetic and has had several surgeries lately, they removed his left hand and right foot due to complications. This is serious and his medical bills are mounting. Donations to the Frank Trejo Medical Fund can be made to Paypal via the email address: hangloosedude@hotmail.com

Kenpo TV Update More video coming your way. I’ll have an addition for the Kenpo 101 section on how to transition to a cat stance, with detail on the mechanics that many miss.

Seminar recaps The AJJF Danzan-Ryu Chicago camp I was invited to teach at was a blast. Kurt Barnhart and I did a couple of sessions. I shared the mat with DZR Professor Tom Ryan and we did sleepers and chokes. Their senior, Professor Tom Ball, and I talked a bit and found we know some of the same people. The event was well-run and I was impressed that it addressed physical, mental and spiritual aspects, very balanced. My seminar on Form Six at Bob White’s studio had a full house. That’s a solid group, loaded with professionals and some tough, tough fighters. It was a pleasure and an honor to teach there. I was at Graham Lelliott’s Central Valley Karate in Clovis, CA the next day. I taught some extensions with grafting to other techniques off combination punches. Fun for the whole group, myself included. People came from San Francisco and Sacramento areas, as well. Looking forward to his event at Wonder Valley in May.

Online lessons I’m doing lessons via Facetime and it’s working very well. If you’re interested, please contact me at lee@leewedlake.com.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month October is the month. You may have missed the deadline to order our pink Kenpo shirts (I may have some extra) but you can still make a donation. We’re working with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). If you got the shirts from us, thank you so much. We have a donation of a pair of women’s Courage sunglasses from Pete Tomaino at Corley Optical in Hinsdale, IL. They have pink sparkle bows. We’ll auction them off via my website and send the proceeds to NBCF. NBCF is sending me some “stuff” to include when we ship the pink shirts, too.
